SoCon Pitcher of the Year Peja Goold intends to enter transfer portal

SoCon Pitcher of the Year Peja Goold announced on her Instagram that she intends to enter the transfer portal. The junior right-hander said this in her post:
“I’m beyond grateful for the memories, growth, and opportunities I’ve had here. To my teammates, thank you for all the forever bonds. To my coaches, I appreciate all the endless support and guidance you’ve given me. After a lot of thought, prayer, and conversations with those close to me, l’ve decided to enter the transfer portal and explore what is next for the last chapter of my softball journey. I am forever thankful for my time as a Moc. But I’m excited for what God has in store for me next.”
Goold had a 25-7 record with two saves this season. She had a career-best 1.69 ERA and .173 opposing batting average this season. According to our friends at 64Analytics, Goold had a 3.02 FIP – Fielding Independent Pitching (FIP): A statistic that estimates a pitcher’s run prevention independent of the performance of their defense – this season. That is in the same range as Oregon’s Lyndsey Grein and Oklahoma State’s Ruby Meylan.
The softball transfer window officially opens on Sunday, May 18.
