Alabama fifth-year senior defensive back Malachi Moore was selected with the No. 130 overall pick (Round 4) in the 2025 NFL Draft by the New York Jets on Saturday afternoon. Moore was the fourth Crimson Tide player off the board in this year’s NFL draft.

The Jets traded up 15 spots with the Philadelphia Eagles to draft Moore.

Moore exhausted his eligibility this past season after playing in 64 career games. Returning in 2024 thanks to a free COVID year, Moore appeared in and started 12 games for Alabama before having surgery prior to the Tide’s bowl game. A two-time team captain, he registered 70 tackles, two forced fumbles, two interceptions and a sack in his final year.

Moore has played first-team reps since his freshman season in 2020, when he helped Alabama win a national championship. Appearing in double-digit games each of his five years with the Tide, Moore finished his collegiate career with 214 tackles, 15.5 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, 31 defended passes, seven interceptions, three forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and a pair of interception return touchdowns – one in 2020 and one in 2022.

A native of Trussville, Alabama, Moore enrolled at Alabama as a 4-star prospect in the 2020 class, according to the On3 Industry Rankings. The Hewitt-Trussville star was considered the 189th overall recruit, the No. 13 safety and seventh-best player from Alabama that cycle. He ultimately chose the Crimson Tide over Arkansas, Auburn and Georgia.
