Alabama at Oklahoma: Date, kick time revealed for first-round playoff game
Alabama is back in the College Football Playoff and will travel to play Oklahoma in a first-round matchup between the Nos. 8 and 9 seeds. The first-ever playoff game in Norman, Oklahoma, is set for Friday, December 19, and will kick off at 7 p.m. CT. It will air on ESPN and ABC.
The Round 1 winner will advance to face No. 1-seed Indiana in the Rose Bowl quarterfinal. The New Year’s Day playoff game is scheduled to kick off at 3 p.m. CT and air live on ESPN.
The Sooners hold a 5-2-1 edge in the all-time series history with Alabama. That includes a 2-0 record in Norman. The two teams met earlier this season in Tuscaloosa, where OU defeated the Crimson Tide, 23-21. Alabama turned the ball over three times in the 2-point loss. The Crimson Tide does have a College Football Playoff win over the Sooners (45-34 in 2018).
This will mark Alabama’s ninth College Football Playoff appearance, the most of any program, and its first since the 2023-24 season. It is also the first time the Tide is participating in the CFP since it expanded to 12 teams, as UA was left out of last year’s field with a 9-3 record.
