Alabama Athletics self-reports six Level 3 NCAA violations

The University of Alabama’s athletic department self-reported six Level 3 NCAA violations from July 1, 2024, to June 30, 2025, according to a violations summary posted on the school’s athletics website on Thursday afternoon. Five different sports reported violations, including two separate minor infractions committed by the Alabama baseball program.

The Crimson Tide football and men’s basketball teams did not self-report any violations.

Below is a full list of Alabama’s minor NCAA violations and the corrective actions taken.

1. Sport: Men’s Tennis (7/10/24)

– Summary: Tennis coach mistakenly purchased a koozie during a recruit’s official visit to campus. 

– Corrective actions taken: 1. Rules education provided to the men’s tennis staff. 2. A letter of admonishment will be issued to the coach. 3. The institution declared the PSA ineligible until he repaid the value to a charity. 4. The institution will be limited to one off-campus contact per academic year with the involved PSA. 

2. Sport: Baseball (1/27/25)

– Summary: A recruit charged high speed internet to his room on an official visit. 

– Corrective actions taken: 1. Rules education provided to the baseball staff. 2. The institution declared the PSA ineligible until he repaid the value to a charity. 

3. Sport: Baseball (8/13/24)

– Summary: An institutional press release regarding players drafted in the Major League Baseball draft included the name of a recruit who was not signed. 

– Corrective actions taken: 1. Rules education provided to the baseball staff. 

4. Sport: Gymnastics (10/1/24)

– Summary: A recruit informed the gymnastics staff that she was committing to the institution while at a camp. 

– Corrective actions taken: 1. Rules education provided to the gymnastics staff. 2. The institution must count the contact as one of its contact opportunities with the recruit. 

5. Sport: Soccer (2/11/25)

– Summary: The women’s soccer team only provided one required day off during an out-of-season segment. 

– Corrective actions taken: 1. Rules education provided to the women’s soccer staff. 2. The institution will apply a 2-1 penalty for all impacted student-athletes, so the team will have two additional off days added to their 14 for the 2025-26 academic year. Those students will have 16 additional days off. 

6. Sport: Rowing (6/5/25)

– Summary: The women’s rowing team only provided 13 additional days off during the 2024-25 academic year for a portion of the roster. 

– Corrective actions taken: 1. Rules Education will be provided to the new women’s rowing staff. 2. The institution will apply a 2-1 penalty for all impacted student-athletes, so the team will have two additional off days added to their 14 for the 2025-26 academic year. Those students will have 16 additional days off.
