Alabama basketball made a late addition to its 2025-26 roster on Friday night, landing the commitment of 4-star center Collins Onyejiaka.

Onyejiaka was originally a member of the 2026 recruiting class, ranked as a top-100 prospect according to On3, but announced with his commitment that he’ll be reclassifying, skipping his senior year of high school and joining the Crimson Tide for this upcoming season.

What’s most impressive about Onyejiaka is his size. He stands at 6-foot-10 and weighs in at 270 pounds, immediately becoming the heaviest player on the Alabama roster. He serves as a nice depth piece to add to the frontcourt, and is a huge and physical body that can aid the Tide in a wildly physical league like the SEC.

He’ll be a developmental piece, and one that can turn into a strong interior presence on both ends of the floor. He’s the third reclassified freshman that head coach Nate Oats has brought in while at Alabama, joining Josh Primo, and more recently Jarin Stevenson.

With Onyejiaka’s commitment, Alabama now has four committed freshmen to go with four transfer portal additions, filling the roster with 13 players when combined with the five returners from last season.

Summer practice has already begun for the 2025-26 team, and the season will tip off in Coleman Coliseum on Nov. 3 against North Dakota.
