Alabama basketball drops in first AP Poll of December

Alabama basketball fell again in the AP Poll on Monday afternoon, dropping one spot to No. 10, its lowest ranking of the season thus far.
The Crimson Tide currently sits at 6-2 on the season, coming off a solid 2-1 outing at the Players Era Festival in Las Vegas over Thanksgiving week. During that tournament, Alabama beat then-No. 6 Houston and Rutgers, and fell to Oregon in the championship game of the event.
Nate Oats‘ team has two wins over currently ranked teams in No. 19 Illinois and No. 17 Houston, with both losses coming at the hands of ranked teams as well in No. 8 Purdue and No. 12 Oregon.
There are eight SEC teams ranked in the top 25, with Alabama being the fourth highest. The Crimson Tide is behind No. 2 Auburn, No 3 Tennessee and No. 4 Kentucky, while ahead of No. 13 Florida, No. 21 Oklahoma, No. 22 Texas A&M and No. 23 Ole Miss.

In the computer metrics, Alabama ranks No. 13 in the NET, which released its initial rankings today, and No. 10 in KenPom.
This week, Alabama has a road game against No. 20 North Carolina in the SEC / ACC Challenge, which will likely be its final game against a ranked opponent until conference play starts in January.
Tipoff between the Crimson Tide and the Tar Heels is set for 6:15 p.m. on Wednesday night.
