TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama guard Latrell Wrightsell Jr. was back at practice on Tuesday in the team’s final on-campus practice of the 2023-24 season after dealing with a head injury.

Following the workout at Coleman Coliseum, head coach Nate Oats provided an update.

“Today was the first day Wrightsell was able to practice,” Oats said. “He was limited in what he could do, but glad he was out there. He’s got day-to-day evaluations. Based on how tomorrow morning’s evaluation goes, we’ll see where he goes the rest of the week. Our hope is that he’s gonna be able to play on Saturday, though.”

During the media viewing period of Tuesday’s practice, Wrightsell worked with the second team. After reporters entered Alabama’s practice gym, Wrightsell knocked down a 3-pointer.

Wrightsell suffered a head injury in the first half of the Crimson Tide’s second-round game with Grand Canyon on Sunday, March 23, and was ruled out for the remainder of that game as well as UA’s Sweet 16 matchup with North Carolina and Elite Eight battle with Clemson.

This marked the second time Wrightsell has been sidelined by a head injury this season. The guard missed four SEC games late in the regular season because of a nagging concussion.

The Cal State Fullerton transfer enters the third week of the NCAA Tournament averaging 9.3 points per game and was shooting 44.9 percent from three, 45.1 percent from the field and 100 percent from the free-throw line and will look to return after a 2-game absence.

Alabama is without redshirt freshman guard Davin Cosby, who has been sidelined by a broken foot during the postseason. Senior forward Nick Pringle is also nursing a heel bruise, but it has not kept him from contributing, as he recorded a double-double in the Elite Eight.

“He’s playing,” Oats said of Pringle. “He’s tough. He’s kind of gutting through this foot injury that he’s had. I thought he looked pretty good in practice today. And nobody’s gonna be 100 percent this time of year. Some guys are a little more banged up than others at this point.”

Alabama will face No. 1 overall seed UConn in the school’s first Final Four berth on Saturday, April 6, in Glendale, Ariz. The game will tip off at roughly 7:49 p.m. CT on TBS/TNT/truTV.
