Alabama basketball schedules road exhibition game at Furman

Alabama basketball has added a second exhibition game to its 2025-26 preseason slate, taking on Furman at the Paladins’ newly-renovated Timmons Arena in Greenville, South Carolina on Sunday, Oct. 26, Furman Athletics announced on Wednesday.
The game will be a part of Furman football’s homecoming weekend, and it will be the first game played in the arena after a $40 million renovation. Single game tickets will be sold for the exhibition.
The matchup will take place 10 days after Alabama’s first exhibition, a matchup with Florida State at Boutwell Auditorium in Birmingham on Oct. 16, and eight days before the Crimson Tide’s season opener against North Dakota on Nov. 3.
Last season, Furman went 25-10, the program’s sixth time winning 20 games in eight seasons under head coach Bob Richey. The Paladins most recently made the NCAA Tournament in 2023, when it upset 4-seed Virginia in the first round as a 13-seed.

Head coach Nate Oats has once again put together one of the toughest non-conference schedules in the country, including marquee matchups against the likes of St. John’s, Purdue, Illinois, Clemson, Arizona, and more. Alabama will also participate in the Players Era Festival for the second straight year in Las Vegas over Thanksgiving week, facing off against Gonzaga, UNLV and a TBD third opponent.
Alabama has faced Furman once during Oats’ tenure, winning a tight 83-80 matchup in Coleman Coliseum during the 2020-21 non-conference slate. One former Tide player under Oats, forward Noah Gurley, was a transfer from Furman.
This is the second year in a row that Alabama will play in two open exhibition games before the season starts, after the Crimson Tide played Wake Forest in Birmingham and Memphis in Huntsville last season.
