Alabama basketball to play Oklahoma in 2023 SEC/Big 12 Challenge
The Alabama men’s basketball team will travel to Norman (Okla.) on Jan. 28, 2023 to take on the Oklahoma Sooners in the SEC/Big 12 Challenge. The news of that upcoming matchup, plus several others, was announced on Thursday.
Last season, Alabama played Baylor in Tuscaloosa for the SEC/Big 12 and came away with an 87-78 victory. That was of one of the Crimson Tide’s five wins against top-15 opponents in a season where they went to the NCAA Tournament but lost in the first round to Notre Dame.
At this time, the network and start time for the matchup against Oklahoma hasn’t been announced.
Each of the 10 games between the two conferences will take place at the home arena of one of the two participating schools. The split is even, which means five of them will be placed at SEC arenas while the other five will be played in Big 12 territory.
This SEC/Big 12 Challenge has been taking place ever since the 2013-14 season. The Big 12 won the first three in a row, but have only won the event once since then. The SEC has won the last two after there was a tie back in 2020.
