Alabama defensive lineman Tim Keenan suffered a lower-body injury at Tuesday’s practice, and the team captain will reportedly be out “multiple games,” according to On’s Brett Murphy.

Keenan is expected to undergo tightrope surgery to repair an ankle injury, McMurphy reports.

Earlier on Wednesday, Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer was asked about Keenan and if he would be full-go for the Crimson Tide’s season-opening game at Florida State this week.

“Yet to be determined,” DeBoer said. “Probably not, but we’ll see.

“He had a lower-body injury. Again, a lot of it’s always kind of figured out after practicing, honestly. Gathering information still in the moment I’m in right now. It’s trying to understand exactly where it’s at.

“Our staff is unbelievable. They have done some pretty impressive things on getting guys back. So, waiting for the update on that. I don’t know if I even give you a percentage and be confident on that. So, we’ll see, but it is a lower-body injury.”

A veteran presence along the Alabama defensive line, Keenan is a key starter for the Crimson Tide. Last year, he had his most productive season to date, recording 40 tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks, and he was in the starting lineup for all but the South Carolina game.

Alabama will also be without starting running back Jam Miller (collarbone) for the first game of the 2025 season. The status of right guard Jaeden Roberts (concussion) is unclear, as well.

Alabama-Florida State is scheduled for Saturday, August 30, at 2:30 p.m. CT (on ABC).
