Alabama Football picked to finish third in Preseason SEC Media Poll
Alabama was picked to finish third overall in the Southeastern Conference this season, per a vote from media members who attended SEC Football Media Days this week in Atlanta.
The Crimson Tide received 2,783 points in the predicted order of finish, coming in just behind Texas (3,060) and Georgia (2,957). The Longhorns and Bulldogs were popular picks for the 2025 SEC Championship Game. Texas, with 96 points, was picked to win the conference title, while Georgia received 44. Alabama once again came in third with 24 points.
LSU (2,668) and South Carolina (2,109) rounded out the top five in predicted order of finish. The Tigers had the fourth-most points to win the SEC with 20, while South Carolina had five. The only other teams with multiple points were Oklahoma (3), Florida (2) and Vanderbilt (2).

The 2025 football season will mark the second since 1991 with no divisions in the SEC. The pair of participants in the conference championship game will be determined during the 8-game regular season, as the teams with the best SEC winning percentages will advance to Atlanta.
Only 10 times since 1992 has the predicted champion at SEC Media Days prior to the season proceeded to win the SEC Championship Game. Alabama last won the SEC in 2023 and won it nine times during Nick Saban’s 17-year tenure as the head coach (30 overall league titles).
