Alabama forward Grant Nelson signs training camp deal with Brooklyn Nets

After going undrafted in the 2025 NBA Draft, Alabama forward Grant Nelson will join the Brooklyn Nets on an undrafted free agent deal, per Michael Scotto of HoopsHype.
Nelson will compete in the summer league with the Nets and will have the chance to earn a two-way contract in training camp later this summer. He’s the second Alabama player from the 2025 team to get an undrafted free agent deal, joining Mark Sears of the Milwaukee Bucks.
In Brooklyn, Nelson will play alongside former Alabama forward Noah Clowney, who was a first round pick by the Nets in 2023.
Nelson, originally from Devils Lake, North Dakota, spent the first three years of his career playing for an in-state team, North Dakota State. There he became a star player for the Bison, being name a first team All-Summit League player by his junior year. He was one of the most coveted players in the transfer portal during the 2023 offseason, and landed at Alabama.

He spent two years with the Crimson Tide, being one of the biggest parts of two of the most successful years in Alabama basketball history. He had one of the best games of his career with a 24-point double-double against North Carolina in the 2024 Sweet Sixteen, propelling the Tide to the Elite Eight for the second time in program history and first time in 20 years.
That run continued one more game with Nelson posting another strong performance against Clemson in the 2024 Elite Eight, helping Alabama make its first Final Four in program history. He once again was a major contributor on the 2025 team, helping the program reach a second straight Elite Eight and spending the entire season ranked inside the AP top-10.
