Alabama guard Amari Allen named SEC Co-Freshman of the Week

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama men’s basketball Amari Allen was named the Southeastern Conference Co-Freshman of the Week along with Tennessee’s Nate Ament, the league office announced Monday morning. This is the second straight week that Allen has received the honor and joins Ament as the only freshman in the SEC to receive the recognition this season. 

Amari Allen Notes

  • Averaged 12.3 points, 5.3 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 1.0 blocks against No. 12/10 Gonzaga, UNLV and Maryland at the Players Era
  • Shot 60 percent from the field, 50 percent from three-point range and 70 percent from the free throw line
  • Scored double-figures in every game during the Players Era, including a season-high 14 points vs. Gonzaga
  • Ranks 14th in the SEC in rebounding (6.9 rpg)
