Alabama guard Labaron Philon is staying in the NBA Draft, he told ESPN’s Jeff Borzello at the NBA Draft Combine on Wednesday. He has ruled out a potential return to school.

“I’m all-in on the draft,” Philon said. “They weren’t surprised. They knew it already.”

Philon was one of the biggest surprises of the 2024-25 season for the Crimson Tide, being a late addition to the recruiting class and joining a loaded roster as a top-40 recruit. He immediately burst onto the scene, becoming the talk of preseason practice and easily finding his way into the rotation.

The 6-foot-4 point guard started in 29 of 37 games, averaging 10.6 points and 3.8 assists. He showcased impressive finishing ability, good defensive instincts, and very solid playmaking ability. The area that left most to be desired was his 3-point shooting, only posting a 31.5 percent clip.

Philon started showing up on draft boards back in November and December after his strong start to the year, and has ranged anywhere from the middle of the first round to early in the second round on some of the most recent boards.

He has the chance to become Alabama’s seventh NBA Draft pick under head coach Nate Oats.

Alabama now officially has two remaining roster spots available, which it will aim to fill at least one of in the coming weeks.
