Alabama is in: Tide makes College Football Playoff as No. 9 seed
Alabama is headed back to the College Football Playoff.
Despite its 28-7 loss to Georgia in the SEC Championship Game, the Crimson Tide was among the teams selected to the 12-team field for the 2025-26 tournament. Alabama will be the No. 9 seed and travel to take on No. 8-seed Oklahoma in Norman, Oklahoma, in the first round.
The winner will advance to face No. 1-seed Indiana in the quarterfinals.
This will mark Alabama’s ninth College Football Playoff appearance, the most of any program, and its first since the 2023-24 season. It is also the first time the Tide is participating in the CFP since it expanded to 12 teams, as UA was left out of last year’s field with a 9-3 record.
Alabama has a 9-5 record in its previous eight playoff appearances, including a 6-2 mark in the semifinals and a 3-3 record in the national championship game. The Crimson Tide was part of the first-ever College Football Playoff field in 2014-15 and made five straight playoffs.
