The Alabama Crimson Tide have just landed the sixth commitment in their 2023 class. On Sunday, three-star prospect Brayson Hubbard announced that he has teamed up with Alabama’s football program.

This was a quick decision for the product of Ocean Springs (Miss.) as Hubbard earned an offer from Nick Saban’s staff less than three weeks ago. A quarterback at Ocean Springs High and a one-time Southern Miss baseball commitment, Alabama is eyeing Hubbard as a safety at the next level.

Hubbard immediately labeled the Crimson Tide as his leader after getting the offer. He said the following to BamaOn3 when discussing his reaction to the good news.

“It was a crazy moment,” Hubbard previously told BamaOn3. “Just sitting in Coach Saban’s office and when he told me I had an offer to play at UA, it was almost like a dream come true. Every kid’s dream is to get an offer from Bama.”

Hubbard joins an Alabama 2023 class that also features Eli Holstein, Elliot Washington, Jahlil Hurley, Wilkin Formby, and Yhonzae Pierre.

Brayson Hubbard is a unique prospect in the Class of 2023

Hubbard is one of the more intriguing prospects in his class. After all, he was previously committed to Southern Miss to play baseball and had no Power 5 offers until the Crimson Tide extended him one on June 9.

Not only that, but he also plays quarterback in high school yet is being recruited by Alabama as a safety.

Although Hubbard wasn’t a highly sought-after prospect, Nick Saban’s staff does their own evaluations and saw potential in him after he camped on June 4. Saban came away impressed with his speed, athleticism, flexibility, instincts, and ability to play the ball.

He told On3 National Recruiting Analyst Sam Spiegelman the following when discussing last month’s visit/camp at the school.

“I learned a lot of good things from the staff,” Hubbard told Spiegelman. “Hearing from the staff, hearing from Saban was pretty cool cause not everyone gets the opportunity to talk to him in his office. He’s a really cool guy. We talked football, the campus, what goes on Alabama, what goes on within the football program, the player development, and how he wanted us to come out as players whether that was in the workforce or as professionals; he just wants us to come out the greatest man we possibly can.”

Hubbard is now one of three defensive backs currently in Alabama’s 2023 class. The Crimson Tide remain in hot pursuit of other safeties, such as five-stars Caleb Downs and Tony Mitchell.
