Alabama Pregame Show: Favorite Tide-Vols moments, key UA-UT matchups
Alabama and Tennessee will meet for the 108th time on Saturday, October 18, when the latter travels to Tuscaloosa. The home team has won the last four meetings of the Third Saturday in October, bringing some juice back to one of college football’s top annual rivalry games.
The Crimson Tide enters the matchup after defeating Missouri, 27-24, on the road, while the Volunteers hung on to beat Arkansas, 34-31, in Knoxville. Both teams are 5-1, but Alabama is unbeaten in conference play (3-0 SEC), while Tennessee has a loss to Georgia (2-1).
Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson is a Tennessee native, growing up in Martin, and attended a lot of Vols games growing up. He’ll look to continue his hot start against a Tennessee defense that has given up a lot of yards and points so far this season, but is also capable of pressuring the quarterback (26 sacks) and giving the football back to its offense (11 takeaways).

Led by transfer quarterback Joey Aguilar, Tennessee’s top players are new compared to last season’s matchup. Alabama has the league’s top passing defense, but it hasn’t faced a team that can, or will, throw it like this Tennessee offense is capable of.
