Alabama Pregame Show: Final thoughts on FSU loss | What we need to see in Week 2

Alabama opened the 2025 football season with a road loss to Florida State this past weekend. The 31-17 defeat was a disappointing start to Kalen DeBoer’s second year in Tuscaloosa, one that seemed poised for promise. But a lot of the same issues in 2024 showed up again.
The Crimson Tide struggled to stop the run, giving up 230 yards and four touchdowns, while its own ground game was stagnant after the opening drive. Alabama also committed twice as many penalties as the Seminoles at Doak Campbell Stadium. But maybe the most surprising issue on August 30 was the lack of effort from several key members of the Crimson Tide.
Alabama will look to right the ship this week when it hosts the ULM Warhawks at Bryant-Denny Stadium (6:45 p.m. CT on SEC Network). Unfortunately, the Week 2 Alabama Pregame Show focuses very little on ULM. BamaOnLine staffers Charlie Potter and Blake Byler, instead, share their final thoughts on the loss to FSU and what needs to change moving forward.
The Alabama-related topics discussed by the guys include:
– Final thoughts on the FSU game
– Addressing the lack of effort
– Pointing out a few bright spots
– Thoughts on Ty Simpson’s first start
– Alabama health update
– What we need to see on Saturday
