Alabama QB Ty Simpson named to Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award watch list

Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson was named to the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award watch list, the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Educational Foundation announced Tuesday.

Simpson is among 58 quarterbacks added to the watch list for the Golden Arm Award, an award that celebrates the top senior or upperclassman quarterback who is on track to graduate with their class. The watch list will be narrowed down to semifinalists and finalists before one standout quarterback will take home the Golden Arm Award in December. The winner will be recognized at the annual Golden Arm Award ceremony at the Four Seasons Hotel in Johnny Unitas’ hometown of Baltimore.

Alabama has had three Golden Arm Award winners in program history, including Jay Barker (1994), AJ McCarron (2013) and Mac Jones (2020).
