Alabama RB Jam Miller selected to Doak Walker Award watch list

The Doak Walker Award revealed its 2025 preseason watch list on Tuesday morning, continuing two weeks of watch list unveilings, and Alabama’s top running back made the cut.

Crimson Tide senior Jam Miller was one of 88 players selected to the watch list for the Doak Walker Award, annually presented to the nation’s top running back at the collegiate level.

Alabama’s leading returning rusher, Miller was the only running back who carried the ball 100 or more times, or 10-plus times per game, and finished second on the team in every rushing category behind quarterback Jalen Milroe. The 2024 season was Miller’s most involved, as he ran for 668 yards and seven touchdowns on 145 carries. The then-junior also caught 16 balls out of the backfield and turned them into 155 yards and one touchdown. Miller elected to come back for his senior season at UA rather than enter the 2025 NFL Draft.

Three Alabama running backs have won the Doak Walker Award in program history, and all since 2010 — Trent Richardson in 2011, Derrick Henry in 2015 and Najee Harris in 2020.
