BamaInsider on the Road: Alabama targets in Texas we are seeing on Sept. 9
Today marks the fourth week of BamaInsider on the Road, a series that will run throughout fall 2022 on BamaInsider. During the season, we will be in attendance for several high school football games to see top Alabama commits/targets in the 2023 and even 2024 recruiting cycles.
This week, we are in the Lone Star State for a pivotal matchup in Tyler (Tx.) between two priority Alabama targets: Jalen Hale and Jordan Renaud. We also had an opportunity to catch up with cornerback target and Texas Longhorns commit Malik Muhammad.

Texas commit Malik Muhammad continues to hear from Alabama
Malik Muhammad committed to Texas back on July 20, but Alabama has not stopped their pursuit of him just yet.
The Dallas (Tx.) South Oak Cliff prospect hears from cornerbacks coach Travaris Robinson on a weekly basis. Robinson also communicates with Muhammad’s father frequently.
The continued pursuit of Muhammad is a justified one for the Crimson Tide. Alabama is still searching for another cornerback commit to go alongside five-star Jahlil Hurley. Their other options include Five-Star Plus+ recruit Cormani McClain and Florida Gators commit Sharif Denson.
Also, Bama was in Muhammad’s top three before his commitment to the Longhorns on July 20. He’s visited multiple times already this year, and has still shown interest in the program.
Will Alabama receive an official visit from Muhammad? What’s keeping the Tide a program of interest for him? What is Robinson telling him in their conversations?

Crimson Tide targets will face off on Friday night
On Friday night, BamaInsider will be in attendance for a matchup between Longview and Tyler Legacy at 7:00 p.m. Central. Longview has elite wide receiver Jalen Hale, who will commit on Sept. 21, while Tyler Legacy DL Jordan Renaud’s commitment will be two days before.
Both prospects are very high on the Crimson Tide ahead of their upcoming decisions.
Hale, who has Alabama in his top three, took an official visit to Tuscaloosa this past weekend. He was also in town on July 30 for the Champions Cook-Out event.

ICYMI: Read Andrew Bone’s post-visit conversation with Hale’s father!
At this time, Bama holds the lead on the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine for Hale. The Tide are given a 50.7 percent chance of landing Hale, while the in-state Longhorns have a 43.0 percent chance.
Switching over to Renaud, the top-70 overall senior defensive lineman has Alabama and Oklahoma in his top two. Ahead of his commitment, Renaud will take an official visit to Norman this upcoming weekend.
The timing of this visit relative to Renaud’s commitment seems to bode well for the Sooners. According to the RPM, however, there’s one clear team out in front for Renaud.
The RPM gives Alabama a 96.5 percent chance of landing the No. 12 prospect in the state of Texas. Three expert predictions, including one made by BamaInsider’s Joseph Hastings following Renaud’s visit in April, are in for the Tide to come out on top.
In the days following this game, you can expect a lot of premium content on BamaInsider. We will hopefully have interviews with both Hale and Renaud, as well as an analysis package (videos plus text) of their performances.
Alabama will also have at least one assistant coach in attendance for Hale and Renaud’s showdown on Friday evening. Alabama hopes it can secure the two priority targets from the Lone Star State in the next few weeks.
