BREAKING: Alabama lands No. 2 Interior Offensive Lineman

Alabama offensive line coach Chris Kapilovic has delivered one of the biggest pulls in the ’25 class. Michael Carroll, who ranks as the No. 27 overall player per On3 Sports, announced his commitment to Alabama. Carroll took an official visit to Alabama this past weekend. The third trip to Tuscaloosa since late March was enough to shut down his recruitment.
Carroll took an official visit to Georgia last weekend. He was scheduled for trips to Michigan and Penn State during the next two weeks. Those plans, however, have changed. Carroll was ready to reveal his decision on Monday.
“The coaching staff, they’re really personable,” Carroll said of his interest in Alabama last month. “Coach Kap, I love him. The head coach, Coach (Kalen) DeBoer, he seems like a great person. He’s always staying consistent, talking with my parents, all of that. And then the strength coaches there. Coach Dave Ballou, he trained Quinton Nelson at Notre Dame and a bunch of other studs.”
The Penn State legacy (father Mike played linebacker for the Nittany Lions) previously attended the Tide’s A-Day game and also the initial visit on March 26. The top two contenders, despite the in-state connections, were Alabama and Michigan. Coach DeBoer and the Crimson Tide secure this significant win on the recruiting trail.

Comparisons to former Alabama star

The 6-foot-6.5, 308-pound lineman said he was compared by the Alabama strength staff, led by David Ballou, to 2024 first round NFL draft pick JC Latham. Carroll has starred on both sides of the ball. He plays on the interior at the high school level. Alabama views him as a guard or tackle.
Carroll didn’t attend any prospect camps this year, and, according to his high school coach, went through a complete body transformation in the last year. On3 Sports is an outlier in the recruiting industry with Carroll’s ranking as the No. 2 interior OL in the class. Below is what Director of Scouting Charles Power had to say regarding the new Tide commitment.
“Michael Carroll (No. 27) has the largest frame of any top interior offensive lineman. The Doylestown (Pa.) Central Bucks East standout is 6-foot-6, 300 pounds with plus length and hands that measure over 11 inches. Like Curne, Carroll is a two-way player, as an offensive and defensive lineman and has outstanding movement skills. Given his frame and the improvement he’s shown, the On3 outlier could possess the most upside of the group.”
