Eight Alabama players included on initial availability report for Oklahoma game

Alabama Football issued its first availability report of the week on Wednesday evening.
Eight Crimson Tide players were featured on the initial report. Defensive back DaShawn Jones was listed as probable, while linebackers Qua Russaw (foot) and Cayden Jones (ankle) were listed as questionable. Russaw and Jones have been recovering from surgeries to repair their respective injuries. On Wednesday, coach Kalen DeBoer offered an update on Russaw.
“I would say we’re unsure at this point,” DeBoer said on the SEC coaches teleconference. “Probably in that questionable range right now, at this minute. But he’s coming along nicely. I know I said that a week ago, I would consider it at least on, if not ahead of schedule, from what we originally thought. So, he’s done a great job, and he’s getting closer and closer.
“So, we’ll just see how he feels here the rest of the week.”
Linebacker Jah-Marien Latham (neck) and defensive tackle Jeremiah Beaman (knee) are once again out. Tight end Danny Lewis and linebacker Abduall Sanders were also ruled out. Sanders was spotted with a brace on his wrist during last week’s game against the LSU Tigers.
Defensive back Dre Kirkpatrick Jr. will miss a second straight game due to a suspension.
The No. 4 Crimson Tide (8-1, 6-0 SEC) will welcome No. 11 Oklahoma (7-2, 3-2) on Saturday, Nov. 15, at Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa. Kickoff is set for 2:30 p.m. CT on ABC.

SEC Availability Report Policies
Beginning with the 2024-25 athletics season, all Southeastern Conference schools will provide public reports on the availability of student-athletes to participate in each conference game in the sports of football, men’s and women’s basketball and baseball.
Prior to a Saturday football game, an institution must issue the Initial Report on Wednesday by 7 p.m. CT and update the Availability Report once per day on Thursday and Friday (after the conclusion of practice and before 7 p.m.). On game day, an institution must provide one Game Day Update no later than 90 minutes before game time.
Designated Participation Statuses
If an institution has knowledge that a student-athlete may not be able to participate in the upcoming game for any reason (including, but not limited to, injury, illness, suspension, ineligibility, or personal matter), the institution must accurately designate the student-athlete’s participation status on the Initial Report as follows:
– Out – Will not play / 0% chance to play
– Doubtful – Unlikely to play / 25% chance to play
– Questionable – Uncertain to play / 50% chance to play
– Probable – Probable to play / 75% chance to play
