Eli Drinkwitz asks Kalen DeBoer if he will wear 'black hoodie of death' at Missouri

Before Missouri head coach Eli Drinkwitz ended his time on the weekly SEC teleconference, he asked if he could ask Alabama’s Kalen DeBoer, who was next up after Drinkwitz, a question.
Permission was granted, as Drinkwitz was given the second question.
“Are you gonna wear the black hoodie of death on the sideline this game with us wearing black jerseys?” Drinkwitz asked.
DeBoer laughed and responded.
“I got to fit in somehow,” DeBoer said. “More than likely. We’ll see what the forecast is. I kind of know, but I’m expecting that. It’s kind of got a life of its own right now. We’re rolling with it.”
“That’s the only question I needed to find out for the day,” Drinkwitz said before muting his line.
A weird topic in DeBoer’s first season in Tuscaloosa is now one that has Crimson Tide fans wanting to see the head coach in all black. In 18 games over the last two years, Alabama is 12-2 when DeBoer is in a black hoodie of some kind, and just 1-3 when the coach has worn crimson. DeBoer is a perfect 10-0 when he sports the classic, black hoodie.

During a recent appearance on the Bussin’ with the Boys podcast, following the Tide’s win over the Vanderbilt Commodores, DeBoer was asked if he ever washes the now-lucky hoodie.
“It’s funny how something you’ve done for so long all of the sudden becomes a thing now,” DeBoer said. “I’m good about whatever. That’s what I’ve been comfortable in for years. They’re just making it even more comfortable. But yeah, it does get washed, I promise you that. There’s been a couple hot games the last couple of weeks.
“It’s funny that it’s taken on a little bit of a life there. Just try to keep the guys and my family – my daughters, they see it all, and they’re even kind of putting the pressure on me, like, ‘Coach, you can’t let us down.’ I didn’t mean for it to be that way. It was just kind of what I was comfortable with in over the years, but it’s kind of taken a life of its own, crazy enough.”
Alabama will travel to face Missouri is a top-20 matchup on Saturday, Oct. 11 (11 a.m. on ABC).
