Florida State QB on Alabama: 'They don't have Nick Saban to save them'

Alabama’s 2025 season opener at Florida State is just over two months away, but the Crimson Tide has already received some bulletin board material from the Seminoles’ quarterback.
Thomas Castellanos, who transferred from Boston College to FSU this offseason, spoke with On3’s Pete Nakos and discussed the Game 1 matchup with Alabama. Castellanos opened the 2024 season with three touchdowns in a Week 1 victory over the Seminoles and believes he can have another strong start to the 2025 campaign with his new squad.
“I’m excited, man,” Castellanos told Nakos. “People, I don’t know if they know, but you go back and watch every first game that I played in, we always start fast.
“I dreamed of moments like this. I dreamed of playing against Alabama. They don’t have Nick Saban to save them. I just don’t see them stopping me.”

Florida State is coming off a 2-10 season a year ago, while the Crimson Tide will look to bounce back from a 9-4 mark in its second season under the watch of head coach Kalen DeBoer.
The Alabama-Florida State matchup is scheduled for Saturday, August 30 (2:30 p.m. on ABC). This will mark the sixth meeting between Alabama and Florida State. The Crimson Tide owns a 3-1-1 advantage in the all-time series. The two teams last met to open the 2017 college football season in Atlanta, and Alabama won that matchup with the Seminoles, 24-7.
The 2025 season opener is the first of a two-game, home-and-home series between Alabama and FSU. The Seminoles will make a return trip to Tuscaloosa on September 19, 2026, per FBSchedules.com. Florida State is one of two non-conference games against a Power Four opponent on the Tide’s schedule, joining the Wisconsin Badgers (Sept. 13).
