Highly rated 2024 TE Caleb Odom includes Alabama in top seven

Alabama has survived another round of cuts for one of the top tight ends in the Class of 2024. After including the program in his top 12 on April 2, Carrollton (Ga.) High School pass catcher Caleb Odom named Bama one of seven finalists on Friday. Nick Saban‘s staff extended an offer to Odom during his March 4 junior day visit to Tuscaloosa this year.
The other colleges in Odom’s top group are Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Miami, Ole Miss, and Penn State.
Per On3’s Class of 2024 rankings, Odom is the No. 37 overall junior prospect in the country. The 6-foot-6, 215-pounder is the No. 3 tight end and fourth-ranked player in Georgia on the network as well.

Odom spoke with On3 Sports’ Jeremy Johnson about why Alabama remains a contender for him.
“It’s Alabama. I’d get the chance to be coached by some of the greatest coaches in the world,” Odom said of why Alabama made his top seven. “The history that they have is big. They’ve put out players into the NFL. They send five at least every year.”
Tight ends coach Joe Cox signed four-star recruit Ty Lockwood and added Maryland transfer CJ Dippre last recruiting cycle. In the 2022 cycle, Alabama added four players to the tight end room. Thus far in the 2024 class, however, the Crimson Tide have yet to land a commitment from a tight end.

“Right now, they have no 2024 tight end committed,” Odom told Johnson. “A big factor in my recruitment is an opportunity to play early. That’s why Alabama is in there still. Who wouldn’t want to be coached by one of the greatest coaching staffs in the world?”
