The College Football Playoff selection committee revealed their third batch of rankings on Tuesday night, where Alabama dropped to No. 10.

The Crimson Tide (8-2, 6-1 SEC) is coming off a tough loss at home to Oklahoma, 23-21. Alabama remained in the field even after the loss, and if the playoff were to start today it would face No. 7 Oregon on the road in the first round.

Despite having two losses, Alabama still has one of the stronger collections of wins in the sport. The Tide holds wins over No. 4 Georgia, No. 14 Vanderbilt, No. 20 Tennessee, and No. 22 Missouri with losses coming to unranked Florida State and No. 8 Oklahoma.

This week Alabama will face Eastern Illinois for its final home game of the regular season (1 p.m. CT, SEC Network+), before traveling to face archrival Auburn on the road in the regular season finale on Nov. 29.

This is the second year of the 12-team playoff, and the automatic qualifier rules have remained the same. The five highest ranked conference champions are guaranteed a spot in the field at season’s end, including the Power Four conferences and the highest ranked champion from a Group of Five conference.

The biggest change to the format this season is that first round byes are not exclusive to conference champions. As opposed to the top four conference champions receiving a first round bye, now the top four seeds as ranked by the committee will be the ones that receive a bye to the quarterfinal round.

The committee will continue to release updated rankings every Tuesday night until conference championship week. The final rankings will be released during the CFP selection show on the morning of Sunday, Dec. 7.
