The 2025-26 college basketball season is nearly here, and Alabama is set to tip off the program’s seventh season under head coach Nate Oats.

The Crimson Tide comes into the season with elevated expectations once again, as has become the norm throughout the recent years of Oats’ tenure. In the preseason AP Poll, Alabama is ranked No. 15, while being picked to finish third in a loaded SEC.

Once again Alabama will play one of the toughest non-conference schedules in the nation, but before it gets to its most difficult games, it opens the season at home against North Dakota on Monday night.

The season-opener is the second game in a 2-for-1 series with the Fighting Hawks. Last season, Alabama played a road game in Grand Forks as a homecoming game for North Dakota native Grant Nelson. The series agreement will bring North Dakota to Tuscaloosa this season and during the 2027-28 season.

The Fighting Hawks are entering Year 7 under head coach Paul Sather, coming off a 12-21 (5-11 Summit League) season. They return just 21 percent of their scoring from a year ago. Their best scorer last season, Treysen Eaglestaff, who scored 40 points in the game against Alabama, left in the transfer portal for West Virginia.

Tipoff between Alabama and North Dakota is set for 7 p.m. CT.
