Troy (Ala.) Charles Henderson High School’s Zion Grady has found his home at the next level. The elite EDGE in the 2025 cycle will be playing for the Alabama Crimson Tide in college.

On Sunday, Grady announced his commitment to Bama. He chose the Tide over a final group that also featured Auburn, Florida State, and Georgia. A handful of trips to Tuscaloosa this year — including a visit for the Tennessee game last month — helped sell Grady on Alabama.

Elite 2025 EDGE Zion Grady commits to Alabama: ‘ The biggest thing is development’

Grady has spoken highly of Nick Saban‘s program in the past, saying the following about his interest in Bama after his Texas game visit.

“Just because of the culture,” Grady previously told BOL. “They’ve got really good player development. All their players do good in the NFL and last in the league for a long time. They develop very well for the NFL, so that plays a huge part.”

Coleman Hutzler and Robert Bala have led the way in Alabama’s pursuit of Grady. He speaks with both linebacker coaches on a weekly basis; Hutzler, his future position coach, has drawn praise from Grady for his high energy and the intensity he brings to his coaching style.

Grady has also liked what he’s seen from defensive coordinator Kevin Steele‘s group this season.

“I feel like he’s doing very good with the group,” Grady said of Steele last month. “They switch it up a lot. They play 3-4, 4-3, so you really don’t know what they’re going to do.”

“I feel like they’ve got a real good defense,” Grady continued. “I’ve seen a lot more improvements since the Texas game.”

Grady’s commitment marks the third straight month in which Alabama has added an in-state prospect to their 2025 class. The Crimson Tide landed Saraland High School defensive lineman Antonio Coleman in September, and added Brewton (Ala.) linebacker Myles Johnson in October.

Anthony Rogers and Five-Star Plus+ wide receiver Ryan Williams are the two other prospects from Alabama in this class. The program also holds commitments from five-star receiver Jaime Ffrench and four-star offensive linemen Dontrell Glover and Mason Short.

Alabama’s 2025 class checks in at No. 1, per the On3 Industry Football Team Recruiting Rankings.

Per the 2025 On3 Industry Rankings, Grady is the No. 35 overall recruit in his class. He’s the No. 3 EDGE in the country, as well as the fifth-ranked junior in the state of Alabama.

Grady has lived up to his high ranking in his junior season. The 6-foot-4, 210-pounder leads his team in total tackles with 70 this season, and has 21 tackles for loss. He has also recorded nine total sacks and has one interception as well.
