Injury updates on Alabama Wolf linebackers Qua Russaw, Jah-Marien Latham

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer opened Vanderbilt week by sharing updates on injured Crimson Tide outside linebackers Qua Russaw and Jah-Marien Latham.
“Qua has a broken foot and (had) surgery and everything,” DeBoer said. “He won’t be out for the season, but it’ll be an extended amount of time here. And Jah-Marien, just with everything, he’ll be out for the season. It’s unfortunate. Just love both of those guys.
“But Zebbo, as we refer to him, Jah-Marien’s gonna have a healthy recovery. He’ll recover fully. So, that’s the main thing in the big picture of everything, but unfortunately, we won’t have him back this season.”
Russaw left Saturday’s Georgia game early in the first half and was ruled out for the remainder of the contest. He was spotted wearing a walking boot and using crutches after the victory.

Latham sustained a neck injury during the week leading up to the Georgia game and was sent to the hospital in Birmingham. A sixth-year senior, Latham has had feeling and movement after the scary setback, but as DeBoer said on Monday, his 2025 season looks to be over.
This is Latham’s sixth and, presumably, final year. But could Alabama seek a medical redshirt?
“We haven’t gone down that road yet,” DeBoer said. “Really haven’t seen him in person. Just communicating. I know he’s back here around the facility finally at the beginning of the week. But yeah, we haven’t gone down that road yet, so don’t have an answer for you there.”
Alabama will turn to Yhonzae Pierre, Justin Hill — a true freshman — and Noah Carter at the Wolf linebacker position with its two most experienced edge rushers impacted by injuries.
The Crimson Tide will next play Vanderbilt at home on Saturday, Oct. 4, at 2:30 p.m. CT (ABC).
