Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer provided updates on a pair of Crimson Tide receivers on Wednesday’s SEC teleconference. DeBoer, speaking during Alabama’s bye week, shared the latest on Isaiah Horton and Lotzeir Brooks as the Tide returned to the practice field.

“I expect those guys to be ready to go for LSU,” DeBoer said. “Lottie was especially rolling out there today and making good progress. And Isaiah just got nicked up in the first half there in the game, and he’s making good progress, too. But I’d expect both of them to be ready for LSU.”

Horton went to the visiting locker room at Williams-Brice Stadium with members of the Crimson Tide medical staff just before the second quarter ended (1:45). He jogged onto the field with the rest of the Alabama team after halftime and tested things out on the field before the start of the third quarter. But Horton was seen sitting with his left leg elevated on the sideline.

Horton was targeted once but did not have a catch in the first half of action. Horton entered the game third on the team in receptions (22) and receiving yards (272) and was tied for the offense lead in receiving touchdowns (5) before Germie Bernard scored again against the Gamecocks. Horton had scored in five of his last six outings before leaving last week’s game.

Brooks didn’t make the trip to Columbia, S.C., after he was ruled out on the availability report prior to the contest. During his Saturday pregame chat with the Crimson Tide Sports Network, DeBoer said Brooks “got dinged up” against Tennessee, and he “didn’t turn the corner like we probably thought he was going to as the week went on.” Thus, he did not travel.

Brooks, a true freshman, is fourth on the Alabama roster in terms of receiving yards with 255. He has accumulated that much on just 16 catches, averaging 15.94 yards per reception.

The Tide is off this week and will next face LSU on Saturday, Nov. 8, at 6:30 p.m. CT (ABC).
