Jalen Hale update: Kalen DeBoer gives latest on recovering WR at start of fall camp

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — It was mostly positive news on the injury front for Alabama football as the Crimson Tide opened fall camp on Wednesday morning. Every player who was limited in the spring was participating in practice, including wide receiver Jalen Hale.
“Where he was at a year ago with the injury in the spring of 2024, pretty significant injury at the time,” DeBoer told the media following Alabama’s Wednesday practice. “Between he and our medical staff doing an awesome job of pushing forward, our whole team is proud of him, not just me. We’ve talked about that in the winter, in December we addressed it as a team. Guys being excited about him finally doing something with the team. The spring was the next step, then the summer.
“There’s reps that he hasn’t taken. Reps that other guys have. He’s still learning as we go. Every rep he’s gonna get more and more confident. He’s certainly got a lot of tools and I want to see his growth, I’m excited about that this fall.”
Hale didn’t appear in any games during the 2024 season after suffering a significant leg injury during 2024 spring practice. He worked his way back to practicing in a limited capacity in the leadup to the ReliaQuest Bowl at the end of last season, but didn’t play in the game.

During his freshman season in 2023 Hale logged catches in four games — Middle Tennessee, Ole Miss, Kentucky and Chattanooga. He recorded five catches for 148 yards and a touchdown over the course of the season, with the touchdown coming in a critical home game against a top-15 Ole Miss team.
The 6-foot-1, 197-pound receiver is entering his third season in the Alabama program and is a redshirt sophomore in terms of eligibility.
