Josh Cuevas injury update: What Kalen DeBoer said about Alabama tight end

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Alabama senior tight end Josh Cuevas missed the Crimson Tide’s 56-0 win over Eastern Illinois after suffering a foot injury earlier in the week on the practice field.
Cuevas was in street clothes and had a boot on his right foot during the victory on Senior Day.
After the win, Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer didn’t have much of an update on a timetable for Cuevas to return, but the senior hasn’t been ruled out for the season, per BOL sources.
“We’ll just kind of have to see how he comes along here during the week next week,” DeBoer said.
In his second year in the program, Cuevas has started all 10 games of the 2025 season as the Crimson Tide’s top tight end. He is third on the team with 30 receptions and four touchdowns as a receiver and is fourth with 341 receiving yards. Cuevas has caught multiple passes in every game this season and has quadrupled his touchdown total from last season (1).

Cuevas had his best game in an Alabama uniform last weekend against Oklahoma, where he caught a career-high six passes for 80 yards and a touchdown in the loss to the Sooners.
With Cuevas — and Danny Lewis — out, the Tide turned to true freshman Kaleb Edwards as its starting tight end. Edwards caught one pass for 30 yards against Eastern Illinois. Brody Dalton and Marshall Pritchett also caught passes on Saturday afternoon, combining for seven catches for 55 yards. Jay Lindsey also played meaningful minutes against the Panthers.
Alabama will close out the regular season at Auburn on Saturday, Nov. 29 (6:30 p.m. on ABC).
