Mark Sears' status revealed for Alabama's game vs. Kentucky

Alabama issued its final availability report before its home game against No. 17 Kentucky.
Senior guards Latrell Wrightsell (Achilles) and Houston Mallette (knees) and freshman forward Derrion Reid (hamstring) were all ruled out and will not play against the Wildcats.
But senior guard Mark Sears was also included on Friday’s initial availability report with an undisclosed issue, listed as probable for the home game at Coleman Coliseum. On the final availability report on Saturday afternoon, Sears’ name was removed altogether.
That means the All-American guard will play against Kentucky this evening.
Alabama’s leading scorer, Sears has started all 26 games this season. He is averaging 18.5 points and 4.8 assists per game while shooting 40.9 percent from the field and 35.2 percent from beyond the arc. Sears is coming off a 35-point performance at Missouri.
Meanwhile, Kentucky will be without its second- and third-leading scorers against Alabama, as both Jaxson Robinson (13.3 ppg) and Lamont Butler (12.5) were ruled out on Friday.
The No. 4-ranked Crimson Tide (21-5, 10-3 SEC) and Wildcats (18-8, 7-6) are set to face off today in Tuscaloosa. The conference matchup will tip at 5 p.m. CT and air live on ESPN.

SEC Availability Report Policies
Beginning with the 2024-25 athletics season, all Southeastern Conference schools will provide public reports on the availability of student-athletes to participate in each conference game in the sports of football, men’s and women’s basketball and baseball.
Prior to an SEC basketball game, an institution must issue the Initial Report the night before a game by 7 p.m. CT (or, for an institution that played a game the day before, by 11:00 am local time the day of the game, or two hours before the game starts, whichever is earlier).
On game day, an institution must provide one Game Day Update no later than 90 minutes before game time. On the Game Day Update, the only permissible designation statuses are:
• Available – Will dress for the game and be available to play
• Game Time Decision – Coaches and/or medical personnel need to evaluate the athlete in pre-game warmups before deciding whether he can participate in the game
• Out – Not dressing or available for the game
