Midweek injury updates on Alabama DL Tim Keenan, OL Jaeden Roberts

Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer provided injury updates on two linemen on Wednesday.
Crimson Tide defensive tackle Tim Keenan suffered an injury early in Tuesday’s practice, per sources, and DeBoer was asked whether the team captain will be a full-go at Florida State.
“Yet to be determined,” DeBoer said. “Probably not, but we’ll see.”
Later in the SEC coaches teleconference, DeBoer elaborated on Keenan’s injury situation.
“He had a lower-body injury,” DeBoer said. “Again, a lot of it’s always kind of figured out after practicing, honestly. Gathering information still in the moment I’m in right now. It’s trying to understand exactly where it’s at.
“Our staff is unbelievable. They have done some pretty impressive things on getting guys back. So, waiting for the update on that. I don’t know if I even give you a percentage and be confident on that. So, we’ll see, but it is a lower-body injury.”
Last year, Keenan had his most productive season to date, recording 40 tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks, and he was in the starting lineup for all but the South Carolina game.

On the other side of the ball, right guard Jaeden Roberts has been dealing with a concussion since Alabama’s first scrimmage of fall camp. With the veteran starter out, Geno VanDeMark has worked with the first-team offensive line at right guard, leading up to the 2025 opener. On Wednesday, DeBoer provided a somewhat positive update on Roberts’ progress.
“He’s been practicing,” DeBoer said. “Very limited. He’s making progress, but it’s slow and steady. I know this has been going over a couple of weeks, and so a lot of the same. So nothing more than that, really.”
Alabama-Florida State is scheduled for Saturday, August 30, at 2:30 p.m. CT (on ABC).
