Nate Oats gives latest on three injured Alabama players before UTSA game
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — No. 12 Alabama basketball was without three major contributors during Wednesday night’s win over Clemson — Aden Holloway, Latrell Wrightsell Jr. and Keitenn Bristow.
During his Friday press conference previewing Sunday’s home matchup with UTSA, head coach Nate Oats provided the latest update on the injured trio:
“Trelly’s gradually doing more in practice. He’ll be a game time decision,” Oats said. “To be honest with you the more I see him in practice, the more we need him. He’ll fix our defense in a hurry. He plays hard, he’s physical, he can guard the ball. He’s got a disposition about him that we’re currently missing. Clarke’s gradually ramping him back up. Hopefully tomorrow’s better than today and hopefully he can go on Sunday, but he’ll be a game time decision.
“(Holloway) did not practice today. Just to try to give his wrist a little rest. But he’ll be a game time decision we’ll see what he’s like on Saturday. … Keitenn was back to doing some basketball workouts, he didn’t do anything live today though. He’s doubtful for Sunday. Very hopeful that he’ll be back by the Arizona game.”
All three have been dealing with minor injuries throughout the course of this young season that has caused them to miss multiple games each.

Holloway, a junior, is Alabama’s second-leading scorer averaging 18.2 points and 4.3 assists per game while shooting 42.9 percent from beyond the arc. He’s missed two games so far this year, the Crimson Tide’s opener vs. North Dakota and its most recent outing against Clemson.
Wrightsell is coming off an Achilles tear last season that he’s fully recovered from, but has dealt with both a finger injury and a minor right leg injury over the past month. He’s appeared in just three games so far and has missed the team’s last four, last playing on Nov. 19 vs. Illinois.
Bristow suffered a preseason ankle injury that held him out of Alabama’s first two games and re-aggravated it during the Players Era Festival in Las Vegas over Thanksgiving week. He’s missed the last two games, last playing vs. UNLV on Nov. 25.
Alabama’s game against UTSA will tip off at 1 p.m. CT on Sunday afternoon on SEC Network.
