Nate Oats will help train USA Basketball Men's U19 National Team ahead of FIBA World Cup

Alabama head basketball coach Nate Oats will help out the 2025 USA Basketball Men’s U19 National Team in training camp in Colorado Springs next month, it was announced Tuesday.

Oats will support the team as a court coach during training camp. He is one of three college coaches filling the role, along with Hubert Davis (North Carolina) and Mark Pope (Kentucky). The 2025 U19 National Team will be led by head coach Tommy Lloyd (Arizona) and assisted by Grant McCasland (Texas Tech) and Micah Shrewsberry (Notre Dame).

Training camp begins June 14, and the 12-member roster is expected to be announced before the team departs for the 2025 FIBA U19 Men’s World Cup in Switzerland. According to the USA Basketball release, training camp participants recently concluded their freshman year of college or will represent the high school graduating classes of 2025 and 2026.

College freshmen: LJ Cason, Tony Duckett, Daniel Jacobsen, Morez Johnson Jr., Royce Parham, Tyrone Riley IV and Tyler Tanner. 

Class of 2025: Matt Able, Mikel Brown Jr., Chris Cenac Jr., AJ Dybantsa, Hudson Greer, Isiah Harwell, Jasper Johnson, Nik Khamenia, Nykolas Lewis, JJ Mandaquit, Malachi Moreno, Koa Peat and Sadiq White. 

Class of 2026: Tajh Ariza, Christian Collins, Jason Crowe Jr., Caleb Gaskins, Cameron Holmes, Caleb Holt, Taylen Kinney, Brandon McCoy Jr., Jaxon Richardson, Deron Rippey Jr., Jordan Smith Jr., Tyran Stokes and Elijah Williams. 

The Americans were drawn into Group D at the 2025 FIBA U19 Men’s World Cup and will square off against Australia, France and Cameroon. The U.S. has won gold eight times.

Oats is entering his seventh season as the head basketball coach at Alabama. He has guided the Crimson Tide to a 145–63 (75–33 SEC) overall record, five straight NCAA Tournaments and back-to-back Elite Eight appearances. Alabama participated in its first-ever Final Four just two seasons ago in 2023-24. UA has also won four SEC titles under Oats.
