TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — The Alabama basketball team was without four scholarship players in its season-opening win over North Dakota. One of which, Jalil Bethea (foot), was expected.

But Latrell Wrightsell, Aden Holloway and Keitenn Bristow also did not dress out.  Head coach Nate Oats said before the game he was hopeful they were all minor injuries, but Wrightsell is dealing with a finger injury he sustained in the Furman exhibition, Holloway’s wrist injury “flared up,” and Bristow rolled his ankle. On Friday, Oats provided the latest on all three.

“It looks very doubtful that Keitenn will play tomorrow,” Oats said. “We’ll see what he’s like next week, but he didn’t even participate in practice today. Wrightsell and Holloway both participated in practice. We didn’t go hard today, but we went, and they did what we did. So, provided they look good tomorrow morning, after they went through practice today, hopefully they can both play.

“So, we’re hopeful on those two, likely that they play. Highly doubtful, it doesn’t look like Keitenn will play.”

Holloway and Bristow played in both of Alabama’s preseason exhibitions against Florida State and Furman, while Wrightsell saw action in the Furman win. They were Wrightsell’s first minutes since suffering a season-ending Achilles injury against Oregon in November of 2024.

Wrightsell, a graduate student, is back for a third year at Alabama. He was granted a medical redshirt after playing in eight games last season. Wrightsell averaged 11.5 points, 1.8 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game while shooting 42 percent from three prior to his injury.

Holloway, a junior, is in Year 2 with the Crimson Tide. A former Auburn transfer, Holloway played in all 37 games in 2024-25, coming off the bench and averaging 11.4 points, 1.9 rebounds and 1.9 assists. He led UA in three-point percentage, shooting 41.2 percent from deep.

Bristow, a sophomore, is in his first year at Alabama, as he transferred from Tarleton State this offseason. The 6-foot-10, 205-pound transfer forward was named the WAC Freshman of the Year after averaging 11.3 points, 4.4 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game in 2024-25.

No. 15 Alabama will travel to take on No. 5 St. John’s on Saturday, November 8, at Madison Square Garden in New York City. The Crimson Tide and Red Storm play at 11 a.m. (FS1).
