Nate Oats touts shooting potential of 2025-26 Alabama roster

Alabama is in the middle of building its roster for the 2025-26 season, but the current pieces in place have head coach Nate Oats bullish about the team’s shooting potential.
“We’re gonna have a really good shooting team,” Oats said at the Senior Bowl Charities Celebrity Golf Classic on Monday, via AL.com. “Maybe the best shooting team since I’ve been there. There’s shooting everywhere.”
The Crimson Tide currently rosters multiple players who shot at least 40 percent from three a season ago, including Aden Holloway (41.2), Latrell Wrightsell Jr. (42.2) and Houston Mallette (50.0).
Those three guards were three of Alabama’s top four shooters last season by percentage.
In addition to returning multiple strong shooters at the guard spot, Alabama brought in some capable shooters at the forward and center spots that can stretch the floor.
“Our bigs can shoot, everybody in the frontcourt,” Oats said. “Really, there’s not a non-shooter on the floor, so we should have shooting everywhere. Our defense is gonna have to get a little bit better, but we’re gonna have good versatility and good shooting next year.”

The most notable addition Alabama made from a shooting standpoint in the frontcourt was Florida State transfer forward Taylor Bol Bowen, who shot 41.4 percent last year.
Also in the frontcourt, Alavama brought back Aiden Sherrell at center, who shot just 33 percent on the year as a freshman but showed flashes of shooting potential. Noah Williamson, a transfer for Bucknell, is a capable shooter in his own right at 32.3 percent for his career, giving Alabama multiple options to stretch the floor in a 5-out offense.
Alabama still has two open roster spots and will be looking to finalize its roster for the 2025-26 season in the next couple of weeks.
