New College Football Playoff rankings reveal familiar spot for Alabama

The latest edition of the College Football Playoff rankings were revealed on Tuesday evening following all the Week 10 action over the weekend. Alabama, for the third week in a row, slotted in at No. 2 behind the top-ranked Georgia Bulldogs.

As for the other two teams in the top-4, Oregon (No. 3) and Ohio State (No. 4) claimed those spots. In other words, the current Playoff slate didn’t look any different.

Neither did the No. 5, 6 and 7 teams, actually. Cincinnati is still right on the outside looking in at No. 5, while Michigan and Michigan State round out the rest of the top-7.

Oklahoma was ranked as the No. 8 last week, but they dropped to No. 13 after a rough 27-14 loss to No. 13 — now No. 11 — Baylor squad. That means Notre Dame is slowly beginning to make its late-season climb back into Playoff contention.

Overall, there were six SEC teams rated in the top-25. Here are how the entire rankings shook out on Tuesday:

Alabama (9-1, 5-1 SEC) will host No. 21 Arkansas (7-3, 3-3 SEC) this Saturday inside Bryant-Denny Stadium. Kickoff is at 2:30 p.m. CT, and the game will air on CBS. The Crimson Tide are currently 20.5-point favorites, according to VegasInsider.com.

If Alabama can beat the Razorbacks, it will lock up a spot in the SEC Championship Game facing off against the top-ranked Georgia Bulldogs.
