Alabama’s football program has landed yet another offensive lineman target from the state of Georgia.

Zykie Helton, who hails from Carrollton (Ga.) High School, announced his commitment to Bama on Sunday afternoon. This comes less than a month after the Class of 2026 prospect was offered by Nick Saban‘s staff on June 17. Helton chose the Tide over an offer list that also featured Auburn, Georgia, Texas A&M, and others.

Coach’s Take: “The sky is the limit” for new Alabama OL commit Zykie Helton

Today’s commitment from Helton marks Alabama’s first verbal pledge in the 2026 class. Back in April, o-line coach Eric Wolford and Company earned commitments from fellow Peach State natives Dontrell Glover and Mason Short. Both Glover and Short are top-200 overall prospects in the Class of 2025.

Over two weeks prior to Helton landing an offer from Bama, the in-state Bulldogs extended him an offer. The 6-foot-2, 305-pounder would go on to say that UGA has been his “dream school” his entire life.

In the end, however, Helton opted to commit to Alabama and take his talents to Tuscaloosa at the next level.

Also worth noting is that Helton is high school teammates with 2024 tight end Caleb Odom and 2026 quarterback Julian Lewis. Both are priority targets for Alabama, with Odom set to announce his commitment on July 15.

With him being in the Class of 2026, there are no rankings on Helton’s On3 profile just yet.
