-The recruitment of Demarcus Riddick is seemingly winding to an end. He has taken official to Georgia and Auburn with Alabama on the horizon. The last few weeks, Riddick’s camp has gone quiet as a decision approaches, which isn’t that unusual, but a final decision is approaching. UGA has had Riddick at the top of its board since this cycle started. Georgia has been all in on holding on to Riddick the whole time, but even more so after Sammy Brown committed to Clemson. Both were top targets for Kirby Smart.
Riddick was in Athens two weekends ago, and there was some optimism after that trip that the Dawgs had a better chance of holding on to him. But heading into that visit, sources indicate they felt he was going to end up staying in the state of Alabama. Auburn has played the stay-at-home/early playing time angles (which is the direction it should go), and there has been some confidence that the Tigers were in his recruitment, as well. Once source near the Plains told BOL this week that they felt it was a UA-AU battle.
Then there is Alabama. Heading into his visit to the Capstone, sources close to Riddick believe the Tide has maneuvered into as good of a position as it could want. The Clanton, Ala., standout has been to Alabama twice since March and has become very familiar with the Tide program. He has become “very comfortable” while on the Tide’s campus. A final decision is expected on July 26. None of the teams involved will give up the fight, but Bama is trending in the right direction here.
