Ryan Williams injury update: Alabama WR expected to miss ULM game

Alabama is expected to be without one of its top offensive playmakers against ULM.
Sophomore wide receiver Ryan Williams is expected to miss Saturday’s home opener versus the Warhawks, per multiple reports. Williams suffered a concussion in the Crimson Tide’s Week 1 loss to the Florida State Seminoles and remains in concussion protocol a week later.
Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer provided an update on Williams on Wednesday morning.
“Ryan Williams is coming along, day to day,” said DeBoer on the SEC coaches teleconference. “He’s been on the practice field going through — he’s doing the normal protocol and coming along nicely. That’s probably the best way to explain it.”
Last week, Williams took a big hit from former Crimson Tide defensive back Earl Little Jr. and stayed on the turf after the play. After trainers attended to the sophomore, he got to his feet and walked to the visiting locker room under his own power. He didn’t return to the loss.
Williams finished second on the Crimson Tide offense in receptions and targets on Saturday in Tallahassee. The sophomore caught five passes for 30 yards on 11 targets. Germie Bernard led the Alabama offense with a career day of eight catches and 146 yards on 14 targets.

Crimson Tide wide receiver Isaiai Horton is expected to “be at a pretty high level,” DeBoer said, after suffering a lower-body injury against FSU. Alabama should also welcome back right guard Jaeden Roberts, who missed the 2025 opener due to being in concussion protocol.
The status of Wolf linebacker Jah-Marien Latham (lower-body injury) has not yet been revealed. UA will be without running back Jam Miller (collarbone) and defensive linemen Tim Keenan (ankle) and Jeremiah Beaman (knee). Beaman suffered what is expected to be a season-ending injury during the Crimson Tide’s Wednesday practice session of ULM week.
Alabama-ULM is scheduled to kick off this evening at 6:45 p.m. CT on the SEC Network.
