TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Alabama wide receiver Ryan Williams left Saturday’s game at Florida State late in the fourth quarter with an apparent injury. The Crimson Tide star took a big hit from former Alabama defensive back Earl Little Jr. and stayed on the turf following the play.

After trainers attended to Williams on the field at Doak Campbell Stadium, he got to his feet and walked to the visiting locker room under his own power. He did not return to the 31-17 loss.

Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer provided an update on Williams following the defeat.

“He got a concussion,” DeBoer said of the Alabama wideout.

Williams finished second on the Crimson Tide offense in receptions and targets on Saturday in Tallahassee. The sophomore caught five passes for 30 yards on 11 targets. Germie Bernard led the Alabama offense with a career day of eight catches and 146 yards on 14 targets.

Eight different receivers caught a pass at FSU, but only four were made by wide receivers. Rico Scott (2 catches, 19 yards, 1 TD) and Isaiah Horton (1 catch, 6 yards) were the only others.

Alabama was without multiple starters on Saturday. Defensive tackle Tim Keenan (ankle) did not make the trip to Tallahassee. Running back Jam Miller (collarbone) did but was not in uniform. Right guard Jaeden Roberts (concussion) also traveled and dressed out, but he returning starter did not see the field. Tight end Danny Lewis did not travel with the Crimson Tide.

UA’s tight end room was impacted by injuries in the season-opening contest.

“Danny’s been down again here the last little bit,” DeBoer said. “You go through the depth chart, got another ding or two in the tight end room that pulled some guys out for some plays, and some guys that have been out during camp, Marshall (Pritchett), a little bit limited.”

Alabama returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 6, when it hosts ULM at Bryant-Denny Stadium.
