Senior Highlights: Why Alabama commit Jett Thomalla may be the best QB ever from Nebraska
Jett Thomalla, Top 100 quarterback from Millard South High School in Omaha, completed his senior season with a 49-0 win against Papillion-La Vista South in the Class A state championship (highest classification) on Tuesday. It was the second consecutive state title for Thomalla, ahead of his move to Tuscaloosa, where he will enroll at the University of Alabama on January 5.
The Crimson Tide commitment completed 15-of-21 passing attempts for 288 yards, seven touchdowns, and an interception (3-of-5, 55 yards in the 2nd half) in his final high school game, while earning MVP honors of the championship game.
Final senior stats: 193-of-266 (73%) passing attempts for 3,484 yards, 58 passing TDs, 3 rushing TDs. There wasn’t a team to keep the score within 40 points this year, with Thomalla seeing limited action in the second half of every game. The Patriots finished the season 12-1 with its only loss resulting from a season-opening forfeit (one ineligible player) after winning 49-7 at Arbor View HS in Las Vegas.
“I think I’m the best (quarterback) to ever come out of Nebraska,” Thomalla said to KETV after the NSAA Class A state championship game. “People have their opinions and stuff. Yeah, just (something) to look back on when I’m older, even now. You know, just something I’m gonna be really proud (of). Yeah, like I said, you know, I’d say (I’m) on (the list of) the best. So (now) I’m going to (a) really good program and you know (I’ve) had a really good career (with) really good players around me all the time. It’s been a great experience.”
