One day after Florida State quarterback Thomas Castellanos made headlines over what he said about Alabama, another quarterback on the 2025 schedule was asked about the Crimson Tide.

Castellanos, who transferred from Boston College to FSU this offseason, said, “They don’t have Nick Saban to save them. I just don’t see them stopping me.” The Seminoles host Alabama at Doak Campbell Stadium on August 30 to kick off the 2025 college football season.

Eight weeks after traveling to Tallahassee, the Crimson Tide will take a trip to Columbia, South Carolina, to take on the Gamecocks on October 25. South Carolina quarterback LaNorris Sellers was asked how he views Alabama in a recent interview. He had a different opinion.

“Shoot, Alabama is still Alabama, to me,” Sellers said, via The Zach Gelb Show. “They were good last year. They’re a good team. They’re big, strong and fast. That’s how I remember watching them growing up, and I don’t really think they’ve changed that much.

“Obviously, they’ve got a new coaching staff and all that, but that’s still SEC ball. That’s still Alabama.”

Sellers faced the Tide last season as a redshirt freshman and lost in Tuscaloosa, 27-25. He threw for 238 yards, two touchdowns and one interception while completing 23 of his 31 throws. Known as a dual-threat signal-caller, UA held Sellers in check on the ground, as he only rushed for 19 yards on 16 attempts (1.2 ypc). The Tide sacked Sellers four times.

Sellers enters the 2025 season as one of the top returning quarterbacks in the SEC after his first year as the South Carolina starter. In 2024, he threw for 2,534 yards and 18 touchdowns and rushed for 674 yards and another seven scores. The Gamecocks finished with a 9-4 record and claimed top-25 wins against Texas A&M, Missouri and Clemson.

Alabama and South Carolina will face off at Williams-Brice Stadium in Week 9.
