For a taste of what BOL has to offer, here are some nuggets regarding Alabama’s anticipated quarterback battle!

Alabama QB battle nuggets

“Not long after the spring semester ended, Jalen Milroe organized a week-long camp in Tampa with most of his wide receivers. The redshirt sophomore quarterback wanted to continue to work on his timing and chemistry with the wideouts, like where they want the ball to be placed. While the players focused on several areas, Milroe threw the football well when they were on the field, and his arm strength was on full display. He was also more vocal, showing signs of maturity and leadership, and was the one suggesting extra reps once workouts ended.

“Redshirt freshman Ty Simpson is looking confident and consistent. One source said Simpson has been as consistent as they’ve ever seen him. That is good news given the up-and-down spring for Alabama’s quarterbacks. It sounds like Simpson is dialed in, and some believe he has the highest ceiling of the Tide quarterbacks. He just has to go out and win the job.

“Not only is Notre Dame transfer Tyler Buchner battle-tested in the starting battles, he has won one. Buchner would then suffer an injury very early in the Notre Dame season and [Drew] Pyne – whom Buchner beat – played really well at times, including a fantastic performance against USC (23-26, 318 yards). Pyne is now in yet another spirited battle for job at Arizona State.” — BOL Staff
