Three Alabama basketball players out for season-opener vs. North Dakota

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — No. 15 Alabama basketball opens its season on Monday night against North Dakota. The Crimson Tide will be without three players that were healthy in the preseason during the season-opening matchup.
Redshirt senior Latrell Wrightsell Jr., junior Aden Holloway and sophomore Keitenn Bristow were not dressed out for warmups and will miss the game. Sophomore Jalil Bethea will also miss the game recovering from foot surgery he underwent in September.
With four scholarship out, Alabama is down to nine available scholarship players for the first game of the season.
“We’ve got a bunch of nagging — hopefully they’re just minor injuries,” head coach Nate Oats said on the Crimson Tide Sports Network pregame show. “Wrightsell’s Achilles is good to go, but he hurt his finger in the Furman game and re-aggravated it in practice. He’s out day-to-day, hopefully we get him back by St. John’s.”

Oats said Holloway had a wrist injury that “flared up,” while Bristow rolled his ankle in practice.
“Hopefully all three are back by St. John’s,” Oats said.
Holloway and Bristow participated in both preseason exhibition games, while Wrightsell participated in the most recent exhibition against Furman after missing the team’s first exhibition against Florida State.
The Furman game was Wrightsell’s first action since tearing his Achilles on Nov. 30 of last season.
Holloway is in his second year with the Alabama program after averaging double figures last season, while Bristow is in his first year with the program after transferring in from Tarleton State.
Tipoff between Alabama and North Dakota is set for 7 p.m. CT on SEC Network+.
