Twenty-eight football players among 40 Alabama Athletics winter graduates

A total of 40 Crimson Tide student-athletes are slated to receive diplomas this weekend during The University of Alabama’s winter commencement, which will take place Saturday in Coleman Coliseum. Twenty-eight of those players are members of the Alabama football program.

Six of those players will earn their Master’s degree, including quarterback Ty Simpson and a trio of linebackers – Deontae Lawson, Justin Jefferson and Nikhai Hill Green. Nine of the 28 football players will receive their degrees from Alabama after starting their careers elsewhere.

“It’s real special to be able to get here and graduate, especially in three years,” said Alabama offensive lineman Wilkin Formby. “It’s just a great testament to the staff that we have here at Alabama, being able to pour into the student-athletes and things like that. 

“But another thing is that there’s gonna be like 34, or something like that, graduates on the whole team. So that’s also special, I know, for Coach (Kalen) DeBoer.”
