Two Alabama players named to Hornung, Wuerffel preseason watch lists

The Paul Hornung Award and Wuerffel Trophy announced their preseason watch lists on Thursday, continuing two weeks of reveals, and Alabama had one player on each watch list.
Crimson Tide wide receiver Ryan Williams was named to the Paul Hornung Award watch list, which is annually given to college football’s most versatile player. Defensive end LT Overton was named to the Wuerffel Trophy watch list, which recognizes the college football player who best combines exemplary community service with athletic and academic achievement.

Barrett Jones was the Crimson Tide’s first and only Wuerffel Trophy winner back in 2011. Back in 2020, DeVonta Smith won the first Paul Hornung Award in Alabama program history.
